About C-Care

C-Care International is the healthcare arm of CIEL Group and one of the largest private healthcare providers in the Indian Ocean region. The group employs around 3,500 people across three countries.

In Mauritius, C-Care operates two hospitals and 3 clinics, C-Care Darné, Wellkin, Grand-Baie, Tamarin and a Cancer Center. In Uganda, it runs four hospitals, C-Care IHK and 22 primary care clinics. It also operates 55 C-Lab collection centres across Mauritius, Uganda and Madagascar.

The group is now expanding further into East Africa and across the Indian Ocean. That growth is what makes this role what it is. It will build consistent people standards across four thousand employees in three countries, a substantial undertaking on its own. Doing it while the footprint is still growing means the frameworks you put in place will shape how the group operates in markets it has not yet entered.

The opportunity

C-Care is strengthening its group HR function that operates to a single standard across three countries and more than eighty sites.

Reporting to the Group Chief People & Sustainability Officer, you will lead the Group Centre of Expertise for People Performance & Rewards, setting how the organisation measures performance, structures jobs, rewards people and makes workforce decisions across C-Care International facilities.

It is a rare combination in the Mauritian market: a genuine group mandate rather than a single country remit, a regional footprint across three operating environments, and a function that is being built rather than maintained.

What you will own

Reward and job architecture. The Group Performance Management System, job architecture, the Hay Job Evaluation framework and reward governance. Salary benchmarking, compensation framework design and market intelligence across three countries.

HR operating model and governance. Group HR policies, standards and governance frameworks under the scope. The annual Group HR audit programme, and the continuous improvement agenda that sits alongside it.

People analytics and systems. Group HR systems and digital platforms, data integrity and reporting accuracy. Executive dashboards and workforce analytics that senior leadership actually uses to make decisions.

Workforce planning and organisational effectiveness. Annual manpower planning and the HR budget, workforce costing, organisation design reviews, career ladders and competency frameworks.

You will lead a People Performance & Rewards team of three, and work closely with Heads of HR across each countries and business unit to embed group standards locally.

Priorities in your first year

Two pieces of work will define your first year: a group wide productivity project across departments, and a Group Compensation and Benefits SOP setting a single reward standard across all business units and countries. Both are foundational rather than maintenance.

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, Business Analytics or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience across performance management, reward, organisational effectiveness and workforce planning

  • Strong command of workforce analytics, HR systems and executive reporting
